After attempting to save her cat who had earlier fallen in, a woman had to be pulled from a well. To save her pet this morning, the woman descended eight metres into a well on a private property on Penrith Avenue in Gawler West.
She was unable to free herself, nevertheless, at that point.
The cat “Comet” had been gone for a few days before they realised he was down in the well, according to her mother, Laurel.
She said, “We tried all day yesterday, but [we] couldn’t raise him up.
Laurel claimed that they carefully lowered her daughter into the well while using a harness, where she discovered Comet inside, unharmed.
She added, “She gets the cat, who is great, the little sod, and then we had trouble pulling her up.
She claimed that after lifting Comet out of the well and placing her inside a sizable zip-up shopping bag, her daughter was unable to free herself.
There was an old rope ladder, but Laurel indicated that it wasn’t strong enough for her to climb back up.
We attempted to raise her, but the rope broke, and we decided that the situation was too risky.
Just after 9.30 a.m., emergency personnel were called to the historic Para Para Mansion property, where they found the woman just before 11 a.m.
We don’t enjoy using the emergency services because they are already overburdened; it’s unfair to contact them when there are others who are in worse need, but we felt we had no other option, Laurel added.
