Voice actor and singer Ariel Dale describes her most recent travel from Los Angeles to New York City as her “worst nightmare.” Why? She says American Airlines lost track of her two cherished pets after meticulously preparing how to fly them across the nation.
With her two cats and a car packed with possessions, Dale was travelling from the west coast to the east coast in order to attend graduate school. She wanted to make everything as simple as she could for her two gorgeous kitties, Mr. Tumnus and Stevie Nicks.
She was particularly concerned about Mr. Tumnus’s anxiety. He can be wary of strangers because he was a rescued cat who had a “rough existence” before Dale adopted him.
He is wary of being held or touched, unlike many cats. She was concerned that putting him on an aeroplane might be too stressful for him. He becomes terrified, for instance, when lifted up.
Dale chose to carry her pets in a separate direct freight flight after discovering that all available planes had a 14-hour layover. She discovered she could transport the cats on a single nonstop flight using an American Airlines flight. Additionally, she believed that driving was not a good idea due to the many stops and unknown Airbnbs.
She had everything organised now so that she would reach New York before her kitties. Although everything appeared to be in order on paper, how it actually turned out was a different story.
