Two Special Needs Kittens Teach Each Other to Walk

Shelby came across a listing for two cats with specific needs while perusing Craigslist one day. She was a kind woman who had frequently fostered kittens, so she questioned whether she would be the best candidate to adopt them and provide them with the care they need.

After reaching out via email, she received a video that demonstrated the kittens’ motions. Shelby knew she was the only one who could give them a chance at a better life, so that was it. She could tell that the kittens, now known as Haiku and Sonnet, had tiny rear legs that resembled flippers when they first came at her house, but it didn’t stop them from moving around.

Shelby was astounded by their mobility and the fact that they didn’t appear to care that their legs weren’t functioning properly and that they were unique from other kittens.

She laughed at their joie de vivre and endless shenanigans until she realised how fully they had won her heart. She learned they both required immediate surgery at the vet in order to give them a chance of surviving.

They have unfinished bones and malformed joints in their back legs. They were lucky to have Shelby and each other because it would be a long process. Then, as Shelby saw the adorable kittens get better and observed how they supported one another in becoming robust adults, she was astounded.
