Ellen Richter, a foster parent living in Las Vegas, was alerted to the plight of a helpless 10-day-old kitten. He was the lone child to survive against the cold after being born to a feral cat in Mount Charleston, Nevada.
The mother cat’s lack of enthusiasm in raising her last kitten was apparent. Ellen told Love Meow, “I was rushing to try to save him. The kid hadn’t nursed in two days.”
She hurried to get the little tabby cat named Charlie Brown after bringing all her bottle-feeding materials.
When Ellen arrived, she saw that the mother wild cat had abandoned her youngster alone on a blanket just a few feet away. As she bent down to check on the cat, she started to fear the worst and prepared herself.
“He shifted. Though he felt icy to the touch, he was still alive. We were fortunate not to be late.”
