AUSTRALIA – When these two kittens appeared in a woman’s garden in Casula, Sydney, she instantly realised they were unusual, according to The Dodo.
The kindhearted woman simply couldn’t let them go, so she started feeding them.
She then discovered that the three-week-old kittens’ eyes were remained securely shut: they were blind.
Despite her strong desire to care for them, her financial position prevented her from permanently adopting two blind cats.
Fortunately, the Inner City Strays rescue centre stepped up to the plate.
The rescue centre was already filled, but co-founder Diana Dammery couldn’t say no after seeing a photo of the cute kitties. She informs The Dodo:
“We didn’t care how much they were going to cost us; we couldn’t abandon them.”
They quickly learned that Stevie was completely blind, whereas Isaac was just blind in one eye. Both cats required particular care for their eyes.
Inner City Strays, on the other hand, enthusiastically stated in a Facebook post that the cats “are blissfully unaware that anything is wrong with them”!
The remarkable friendship between Stevie and Isaac is maybe the most magical aspect of their narrative. The kittens are completely supportive of one another, playing and cuddling.
Dammery noted that Stevie is especially reliant on Isaac:
“If he becomes bewildered or unsure, he cries, and Isaac runs.” If Isaac is nearby, he never cries. They’re the best of friends.”
Only 24 hours after their eye operation, the couple was joyously wrestling and snuggling again! Stevie healed quickly, however Isaac had more surgery at the SASH animal hospital in North Ryde, Australia.
It is obvious that these are two very remarkable animals. Despite their obstacles, they have demonstrated amazing tenacity and zest for life and for one other.
Stevie and Isaac will be placed for adoption as soon as they are fully recovered, and they hope to find a permanent home.
Dammery, on the other hand, thinks that kids require “a loving family that knows their requirements.”
