Therapy Cat Makes Critically Ill Patients Happy

Critically ill patients at a California hospital have found joy thanks to a loving cat with a jazz legend’s name. Duke Ellington Morris, please!

Recently, this cute black and white cat paid sick people a visit at the UCSF Medical Center.

He is a participant in the animal-assisted treatment programme, a new effort between the hospital and SPCA. Critically ill patients are given the opportunity to meet with shelter animals to assist lower their blood pressure, pain, stress, worry, and sadness.

Before the special visits, patients are checked, the hospital noted. “Before the cat visits, our staff checks for allergies and takes safety measures regarding hygiene, etc.

Additionally, the SPCA’s programme for animal-assisted therapy offers detailed grooming instructions.

Over three million people have seen a sweet video of patients caressing Duke that was posted on the hospital’s Facebook page. Duke was wheeled around the hospital on a cart to meet a few patients who wanted to be cuddled.
