An unscrewed kennel door at the Eden Prairie PetSmart adoption centre revealed a disturbing discovery Sunday: a 6-month-old dilute calico foster kitten named Pencil Case was missing.
The male culprit was recorded on CCTV at 3:15 p.m. cracking open the kennel, removing the animal, and departing the store. Although surveillance film within the store captured monitoring of the individual who performed the act, outdoor cameras were unable to disclose licence plate identity.
“We just want our kitten back,” Olson, adoption manager for Ruff Start Rescue, the non-profit that rescued Pencil Case, said. “Please bring her back so she can be reunited with her sister and foster family… Please return our kitty and do the right thing.”
Officer Williamson of the Eden Prairie Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding the abduction to contact him.
This is the second Ruff Start Rescue kitten taken from a PetSmart outlet in the previous few months.
Previously, someone forced open the door to a kennel at a PetSmart in St. Louis Park and took a kitten named Hawkins. It has yet to be found.
Ruff Start Rescue, which works with local PetSmart adoption centres, rescued both Pencil Case and Hawkins.
