Mikey is a truly remarkable mother cat who, sadly, lost all three of her own kittens. When she was given three abandoned kittens in need of a new mother, she experienced joy once more.
These three abandoned kittens resemble Mikey in size and almost exact coloration and markings.
The mother cat, who was eight months old and had just lost her own kittens, was depressed. Hillary contacted Houston-based cat rescue charity Dori’s Darlings for assistance and guidance because she couldn’t bear to see Mikey in pain.
A foster mother by the name of Amanda was also taking care of three tiny baby kittens that she had just been given three days before. These kittens had only recently been born. There were still connections attached to them.
Kelli, another volunteer, and Amanda provided round-the-clock care for the kittens as needed. They offered to bring the kittens to the distraught mother cat to check if it would be a match after hearing Mikey’s tale.
Mikey was told by Amanda, “I have some babies for you so you can be a mother again. In the Huffington Post
Mikey began caressing and grooming the kittens as if they were her own as soon as Amanda set them in front of the cat mother. After a satisfying wash, Mikey turned over on her side and allowed the kittens to feed.
One of the numerous explanations for why it feels like everyone belongs together is the fact that the kittens resemble their adoptive cat mom.
Amanda stated, “This will be healing for her. This was simply a horrific thing she went through (losing all of her babies).”
Indeed, it was a union made in heaven.
Mikey simply adores her newborn children. She kisses them, gives them baths, and even sleeps with them.
