An otter, a duck, or an adventurous dog would likely be your first choices if you had to take an animal on a surfboard.
Few people would be brave enough to bring their pet cat out onto the surf. Hokule’a’s owners assert that he has a few favourite locations, though.
The Hawaiian cat even has a dedicated Instagram account that his owners Alessia and Pat use to promote the preservation of the oceans from plastic pollution.
After two weeks of having the 8-month-old kitten, his owners realised that, unlike most cats, “Hoku” didn’t mind the rain, baths, or even jumping into the shower while it was running.
Hoku remained close to the couple, unlike earlier cats they had owned that were independent.

The couple made the decision to test his affinity for the water by taking him to the beach one day.
They soon realised he had no problem joining them in the ocean on their surfboards and paddleboards.
