Marty the Cat Climbs Mount Washington After More Than Ten Years

It must be honoured when a living thing influences thousands of individuals for more than ten years.

And how much more so when it’s a fluffy black cat! In his lifespan, Marty the cat has done just that. But this daring Maine Coon went “a step beyond.”

For 12 long years, Marty the cat served as their mascot, perched on a throne on Mount Washington Summit. Marty, however, was not a native of this noble realm. Oh no, he was actually competing for one of the homeless cats with the worst care, a black cat.

At the Conway Area Humane Society in Conway, New Hampshire, he makes his modest debut.

The long-haired panther not only won the hearts of the employees but also their supporters right away. He so easily won the local competition to choose the new summit mascot.

And this honourable distinction is NOT merely a pointless publicity stunt. In the Northeastern United States, the summit is the mountain with the highest elevation. Marty ruled the summit as the ONLY person who lived there full-time.
