Only one of the babies, despite the mother’s repeated sprints to find and save them, could be saved. Only one of the litter’s black kittens with white paws is still alive.
However, the courageous mother wasn’t completely unharmed. She burned and singed parts of her little body, including her ears, paw pads, and body.
The protagonist also struggled with smoke inhalation. And despite their best efforts, the homeowners were unable to cover her medical expenses. But they were aware.
So they got in touch with Furget Me Not Animal Rescue, a nearby shelter in Edmonton, Canada. Even though the rescue is at capacity, they were unable to refuse aiding the survivors.
With the semi-feral mom, recuperation would not be simple. She might lose her strong façade as her wounds heal, though, as she advances.
