Potato was about to be put to death in a shelter until Grace sprang into action. He was deemed “untouchable” by the shelter, which was unfortunate for the traumatised cat.
But thanks to Grace’s persistence, patience, and singing, the cat had an amazing turnaround and began to gradually develop a level of trust in her.
Grace was scratched, and it was risky, but she wasn’t going to give up on this animal.
Some cats will never be domesticated, which is okay, as such a change isn’t always possible. But this cat has done a complete 180º, turning into a playful love bug thanks to his mama.
Potato was still automatically swatting sometimes, but Grace maintained working with him, teaching him that aggressive conduct isn’t rewarded.
She would politely reject him and withhold her devotion. Soon after, he made biscuits on a blanket and declared he was a lap cat.
Potato made great progress and began interacting with the other animals. He did, however, get into a fight with Grace’s cat Kitty Boy, and it eventually became apparent that he would likely be better off as a solitary pet in the long run.
