Despite being just a quarter the size of what he should be, the kitten grows into a cat

On a Saturday, Best Friends Felines, a cat rescue in Brisbane, Australia, received a call about a tiny kitten in need of immediate assistance. Because he was the smallest of the litter, the mother cat had abandoned him.

The kitten was carried to the emergency veterinarians, where he peacefully rested on the hand of his saviour, clinging to life with what little strength he still had.

Nikki of Best Friends Felines said, “I called him Henry and promised him that we would fight for him, but he needed to fight, too.”

At around four weeks old, Henry weighed 110 grammes, which was only around 25% of his ideal body weight. He was extremely lethargic, dehydrated, malnourished, and gravely unwell.

He was given fluids by emergency doctors as they discussed the little guy’s bleak prognosis and his slim chances of survival. “However, whenever there is a possibility, we have to give them a shot.”
