It’s never simple to move on after losing a loved one, and it seems that cats also struggle with this.
For the majority of her existence, Trooper the cat has been completely devoted to Sarah Whaley, a 96-year-old woman.
While renovating a home in 2014, Trooper was discovered by Alexis Hackney and her family. They heard her meowing from the basement and went to investigate.
Alexis stated, “My mom and sister had to get a sledgehammer and smash out the sheetrock in order to reach her because she was in the wall. She was maybe two weeks old. Her eyes weren’t even fully open.
They brought the kitten home, where she quickly became very attached to their resident grandmother Sarah.
Before Sarah was sick, the family was unaware of how close the two were to one another.
Most of the time, Trooper slept on her bed and was continuously bringing her gifts from other parts of the home.
Trooper was utterly devastated when Sarah tragically passed away.
She stopped eating because she didn’t want to be near the body of her grandmother, according to Alexis. She doesn’t speak much, but the cat was constantly crying as she walked around the house.
While Trooper is now getting better, she still greatly misses Sarah.
Cats are supposedly difficult to understand and distant, but evidence proves otherwise. Cats really care deeply about the humans with whom they share their lives.
