A second pet carrier was discovered in the Blairadam Forest, putting even another cat in peril.
Animal rescuers believe that the little cat they discovered abandoned in a Fife forest may have starved to death.
In addition, there is still some worry that a second kitten might be in danger following the discovery of two pet carriers in Kelty’s Blairadam Forest.
The four-month-old kitten, now known as Molly, was abandoned without food or water.
There was a second pet carrier, but it was empty. The Scottish SPCA’s officers think another kitten may have run into the woods.
They are now pleading with anyone passing by to keep a watch out for the missing kitty.
“Two pet carriers were discovered by someone walking their dogs at about 11.30 on Monday, July 4,” said Inspector Sarah Gregory.
Molly was seated atop one of the carriers, and one of the doors had been left open. One of the carriers stands out since it has the RAC emblem on it and is black and silver in colour.
“Unfortunately, we were unable to locate the other cat, however we assume there were two that were abandoned. If Molly hadn’t been discovered, she would have starved to death because there was no longer any food or water.
We are also quite concerned about the second abandoned kitten that has escaped. We would ask anyone who passes through on foot to keep an eye out for us.
Molly has now been transported to the organization’s Angus-based animal rescue and rehoming facility.
Anyone who finds another kitten nearby or who may know more about the person who left the kittens alone is urged to call the animal helpline of the nonprofit organisation at 03000 999 999.
