After six years, Cleo the Calico Cat was reunited with her human mother

Cleo the calico cat was eventually reunited with her human mother after nearly six years and a lot of work by a network of animal lovers.

Last October, a calico cat was found abandoned in Brockville, Ontario. Stuck in the Mud Animal Rescue took the cat in and cared for her until she recovered.

One day while they were at the vet, they noticed a faded tattoo on her ear, a sign indicating the cat had previously been spayed and a hint that the cat might actually belong to someone.

The owner was traced by Betty Jean Matthews, the founder of the rescue group, who followed the identifying number to an Edmonton-based spay and neuter facility.

With the scant information they had, they began searching for Cleo’s human.

Amanda Graham, who resides in Edmonton, said, “They emailed me a picture and I said, “That’s my cat.”

In order to ultimately bring the two together, the organisation began gathering money for a ticket that would allow Cleo to travel back to Edmonton with a volunteer.

Amanda was obviously anticipating Cleo’s arrival at Edmonton International Airport. It was a very emotional reunion when they finally ran into each other.

Graham said shortly after the reunion, “I didn’t imagine I’d cry as much as I did. It’s remarkable how kind these folks are to do such a wonderful thing for someone they don’t even know.

The reunion was quite emotional.
