A long-haired orange cat named Morpheus was discovered wandering the streets and finding solace in leaves. He was undernourished, untidy, and obviously in need of medical care. Food and drink were offered by a few concerned neighbours. They devised a strategy to get him to safety in collaboration with Little Wanderers NYC. The cat seemed timid and uneasy among people, but he didn’t flee as though he realised he needed their assistance.
Morpheus was finally taken off the streets and ready to be placed in a foster home after years of enduring the elements.
The six-year-old orange tabby had spent most of his life in the outdoors, eluding humans up until this point. Morpheus had struggled with an anomaly of the eyelids his entire life, which made it difficult for him to even open his eyes. According to Little Wanderers NYC, “He was born with a defect called eyelid entropion in which part of his eyelid was curled in towards his eyeball, in both eyes.”
“He needed ophthalmology surgery to treat this folded eyelid issue, which caused both of his eyes to scrape and itch. Morpheus was FIV positive and partially blind, yet he is a survivor, and he was prepared for rescue.” He was adopted by a seasoned foster volunteer who provided him with a private area to unwind. Morpheus was overjoyed to find plenty of soft objects to cuddle up with as well as plenty of food to fill his stomach.
He felt secure and content for the first time in a long. Without having to worry about where his next meal would come from, he could sleep. Morpheus was recovering from an upper respiratory infection, making progress, and gradually coming out of his shell while he waited patiently for his planned operation. The beautiful boy’s surgery was successful, and now that he was pain-free, he was much happier and more at ease.
“He underwent surgery, underwent extensive testing, and recovered well. He has a different cat’s appearance.” Morpheus got along well with the other indoor cats and relished their companionship. He was inspired to be fearless by seeing them interact with people. “He gets along well with other cats and enjoys looking for them. Additionally, Morpheus enjoys wet food a lot. Although Morpheus was reserved, he was always interested in his surroundings and what other people were up to. The orange tabby cat was prepared to find a place of his own after months of recuperation and socialisation. He learnt to enjoy head massages and snacks, and his fur became silky and velvety. “He is polite and fun and he genuinely wants to be accepted and loved. Being inside, he has come a long way.”
Morpheus and Keke, another former street cat, were chosen for adoption by a great family after they fell head over heels for Morpheus. Morpheus and his brand-new feline sibling were happily travelling to their new home. After hiding for a few weeks under the couch, they declared their new home to be their kingdom. “I once heard Morpheus partying at midnight when I woke up (playing with toys). Morpheus enjoys the convenience of his new throne (the couch). He enjoys the other neighbourhood cats and has taken to tagging along with his owners inside the home.
