Australians are accustomed to bushfires because they can happen at any time of the year in Australia.
The current bushfire season, nevertheless, has been disastrous and is far from over. More than a billion animals have reportedly perished in bushfires, which have also severely damaged people, ecosystems, and the environment.
The family of Ben Symonds was among hundreds of families who had to flee their homes in New South Wale’s Baga Valley when wildfires tore through their neighbourhood.
Angel and Mickey, the family’s two cherished cats, fled into the jungle while they were in the middle of the evacuation and were never seen. Ben and his family returned home after the fire was put out, but their animals were still gone.
The family kept calling out for the cats and left food all over the house in an effort to get them to come back.
If they survived, “we honestly believed they’d be back in 3-4 days,” Symonds added.
