When Smokey the cat’s previous family tragically abandoned her, she was discovered abandoned and without a home.
She was discovered in Brisbane (Australia), becoming yet another victim of the rental problem in which cats are abandoned when their owners relocate.
A generous woman agreed to save and take in the cat because she could not bear to see it left alone. She was unaware that Smokey wasn’t travelling alone.
Smokey was carrying a baby, the woman realised as her cat’s belly grew larger and rounder.
She contacted Best Friends Felines and asked if they might assist Smokey and her pups because the expectant cat mother would require a lot more care than she could offer.
“We consented, and one of our maternity caregivers picked up Smokey.”
Smokey relaxed right away, flopped down on her side, and began kneading away with her content paws as soon as she stepped paw into her foster home. She was thrilled to be back in her element, surrounded by lots of delicious food and cuddly, cosy toys.
“She has had several litters in the past, but this will be her final one, the veterinarian determined at her initial visit. She is very affectionate and sweet. She has hair that is as soft as cotton candy.”
