The kind cat was welcomed inside right away by Jaelle, a foster volunteer with Un Chat à la Fois, a kitten rescue in Quebec, Canada. She emailed a picture of the cat to Marie Simard, the creator of Un Chat à la Fois.
Simard told The Dodo that the woman “stated she understood we weren’t taking adult cats and was hoping to help him.” I told her to take him to our partner clinic so he could be evaluated as soon as I saw the picture because it broke my heart.
She said, “His look stated everything that needed to be said.” When I told her to go collect him, he didn’t try to flee after spending some time in front of her door.
The cat was brought to the veterinarian, where he was looked after and given medical attention. He had frostbite, rotting teeth, diabetes, fleas, parasites, and was covered in bite marks. He would not have survived that harsh winter if he hadn’t asked for assistance.
The cat was appreciative of and content to be around those who helped him. Simard noted that “he was very kind to the clinic staff.” At the veterinarian, “he would remove his paw from the cage so that people could pet him.”
