Basil Akwan can frequently be seen using his laptop in a small café in Kuwait. He enjoys the commotion of being outside with his buddy, and they are not by themselves.
The café’s cosy seats for napping and awning to keep them out of the wind and the rain were liked by two stray kitten sisters as well.
The kittens quickly realised that Akwan and his girlfriend, who were also regulars, weren’t very good at providing munchies.
Akwan told The Dodo, “We used to see them all the time – they consistently waited for us in the same spot, even on rainy days. They would quietly approach the table to eat and cuddle.
One of the stray dogs, Sophie, developed a special affection for Akwan and started to accompany him to his car. She even climbed inside the car whenever he let her, demonstrating how eager she was to accompany him home.
As his fiancée stole Sophie’s kitten sibling, Akwan determined to save Sophie because he couldn’t handle the notion of leaving her behind.

Four months after Sophie followed Akwan to his car, they are now in sync. She’s great fun, said Akwan. “I always buy her toys, and the best part is that she’s gotten used to my routines, like taking naps.”
Now, Sophie is the last person Akwan sees before turning in and the first person he sees in the morning. Akwan is grateful every day that Sophie chose him as her father, even though he may have saved her.
It’s a great relationship, said Akwan. “Having such unwavering love is priceless, and knowing I can come back to this little fluff every day improves my days.”
