This couple considered having a dog, and at the age of just eight weeks, they adopted Drax the Cane Corso. He was already a large puppy even back then, as was normal for his breed.
The couple learned they were expecting a child at about the same time. Even though it wasn’t what they wanted, it felt like fate had something wonderful in store for them.
Drax was already a protective big brother to his tiny sibling inside the womb even during pregnancy. He would lick his mother’s belly while sitting on her lap. It seems as though he was eager to meet him!
They became inseparable as soon as his younger sibling was born.
The mother claims that properly socialising and desensitising them is crucial to rearing a large dog and a toddler at the same time. So they let Drax to watch the birth of the child from a distance so he could get used to it.
Drax cherished spending time with the infant. He would lay next to him and watch the tiny person. When the infant was playing while lying awake, he would sit and just accompany him wherever. Drax was there on his back, perhaps demonstrating how to turn over, as they worked on getting their infant to do so.
Drax and his younger brother enjoy gazing out the window among other things. They have done this for years!
