Animal Control Officer in Laredo, Texas Honored for Saving 45 Cats from Fire

Jose Aranda, an animal control officer in Laredo, Texas, had only been on the job for roughly four months when he was tasked with saving 45 cats from a fire. He worked for the city for over 11 years prior to getting the post.

Aranda came at the neighbourhood shelter on Saturday, January 8 at 10 p.m. and found smoke rising from the cat shelter roof, according to the Laredo Morning Times.

The cats were housed in stainless steel cages inside the cramped space. Aranda entered the building to save the cats, even though he put himself at great risk. It was a very courageous choice.

Aranda assisted every cat in leaving the building before the arrival of the fire department. They then started putting out the fire without any casualties. In the interim, the fire’s origin is being looked into.

The cats managed to make it safely to a different part of the property, according to KGNS.TV.
