After experiencing indoor life, a feral kitten becomes an attention seeker

Potato the kitten was a very cautious cat when it arrived at Ashley’s Kitten Academy, a cat rescue in Washington. She was reared by a feral cat who had been spayed and vetted after she was born outside, and she was in dire need of socialisation.

She cowered in the corner of the pen because she was so terrified. Potato had inherited certain feral traits from her mother after being without human contact for the first few weeks of her existence.

She received upper respiratory infection treatment and a badly needed bath to get rid of flea filth from her coat.

After a thorough cleaning, Potato, who was afraid, couldn’t resist being wrapped in a towel. She felt better after being swaddled and got to experience being cuddled for the first time.

Ashley Morrison, the creator of Ashley’s Kitten Academy, gave Potato a tranquil, peaceful, and welcoming space to unwind. Within a day, Ashley told Love Meow that “Potato was asking for human interaction.”

Everyone applauded and rejoiced when the kitten achieved her first accomplishment using a litter box. Potato started to enjoy her new life after she realised she didn’t have to fend for herself any more.

Potato didn’t think twice to appear big and intimidating when resident cat Blossom came to see the new kitten on the block. Blossom embraced the small, cheeky ball of fur after seeing right through it.

Potato adapted well to living in comfort as an indoor cat. She insisted on being friends with two foster kittens named Thelma and Bonnie when she came across them.

“Through her tiny pen, she persisted in attempting to play with them. She had the nicest day after I let her out. She was thrilled to have new playmates.”

With the support of her foster family and feline companions, Potato was gaining confidence in public settings and moving toward an exploration of her surroundings.

She began having tremendous zoomies on the couch and then eventually expanded into the rest of the space.

“She is no longer only hiding beneath her bed out of fear of others; she is now trying to get my attention. She hops around the rooms at full speed like a small bunny.”

When Ashley yells Potato’s name, she will run over. She doesn’t mind sharing with friends and likes to cuddle up on a cosy blanket or relax on a warm lap.

Potato felt healthier and cosier than ever after overcoming certain health difficulties. She chose to join Ashley after learning about her sleeping arrangements (her bed).

“She slept the entire night next to my hand, on top of my head, or beneath my chin. She came downstairs for breakfast and to use the restroom when we eventually woke up in the morning, but I couldn’t find her after that “Ashley composed.

“She had returned to bed. She will now, of course, get to sleep next to me at night.”

Potato is growing well and has gained more over one pound compared to its initial weight of 14 ounces.

She probably spends her free time sunbathing by the window and living the high life when she isn’t running across the room with her friends.
