A PetSmart employee recently noticed something banging around in a stray shopping cart outside. As the woman approached, a fearful dog lifted her head and cried out to her.
The concerned colleague acted quickly, potentially saving the small pup’s life.
“A PetSmart employee put [the dog] on a Facebook page asking what they should do,” Chrissy Elder, CEO of Forgotten, Now Family Rescue, told The Dodo.
Elder subsequently named the puppy Monroe, who sat in the cart for about 30 minutes before anyone noticed. Worse, she was in critical need of emergency attention.
Fortunately, Elder and her team responded quickly to bring Monroe the help she sorely needed.
“She is not likely to require any additional care,” Elder said. “She should lead a normal, healthy life.”

Elder described Monroe as “the sweetest.” “She’s never met someone she didn’t instantly fall in love with.” It shocks my head since everyone has failed her.”
Monroe is ready for whatever comes next now that she is healthy and thriving.
