The Sydney Mines family claims to have owned the first Lykoi cat to live in Cape Breton. Cats from the rare breed, which was only found in 2011 and was given formal recognition in 2017, are also known as werewolf cats because of their sparse coats and likeness to the fabled animal.
I’m Cricket. The 13-week-old Lykoi travelled across Canada, starting in Alberta, and landed in Cape Breton last week.

We had anticipated keeping him apart from the others for a while, but we were able to tell from the start that he was interested in the other cats based on his personality, so we only did so for one day. He wished to get to know everyone. And nothing can stop him from going to the areas he wants to. He is not reserved and is highly inquisitive.
Currie claims that Alberta is home to Canada’s sole Lykoi breeder. Nevertheless, her and her husband Deryk worked hard to organise the acquisition and transport of the uncommon feline.
He resembles a small dog. He is extremely playful. The majority of hairless cats are highly playful, but this one is on another level entirely. We’re still getting used to his little pranks, the nurse and mother of two kids and a stepson remarked.
“We had no clue we would end up with five extremely different cats, let alone a werewolf kitten, when we adopted our first cat after purchasing our own home. But Gizmo was where it all began.
