In a sick case of abandonment, a mother cat and her kittens were discovered tied together

When this mother cat and her four kittens were discovered, they were tangled in the undergrowth, but as the Kudzu was removed, rescuers realised why the mother cat and her litter were in such distress.

The kittens had been zip-tied to their mother cat’s back right leg.

One of the kittens was already dead when they were discovered.

On July 14, White County Animal Control raced over to the mother, and the other three kittens were transported to a veterinarian.

Unfortunately, the remaining kittens were too far gone to save and died one by one over the next 24 hours.

“This is the sickest thing I’ve ever seen done to a cat, and I’ve seen a lot,” Angels Among Us Pet Rescue’s Core Cat Team member Jill Kaloustian said.

Vets first worried that the mother cat, now known as Aura, might lose her limb, but the swelling has subsided and she appears to be alright.

Aura was hospitalised for the whole weekend, receiving fluids and other supportive care.

She was only spayed and vaccinated on Monday, and she was then released to her foster mother for some much-needed rest and rehabilitation.

Aura will be adopted once she has fully recovered.
