During a stroll through the nearby woods, a kind farmer came across a newborn deer. The deer was wounded and lacking one of one of his legs when he discovered the youngster.
The farmer hurried to take the young deer to the doctor. Only two days old, the fawn was already battling for his survival. Fortunately, the youngster survived and began his new life on the farm.
The three-legged deer was still recovering, though. Rudie still needed to regain his balance and go through the painful experience’s emotional healing process. The farmer’s dog proved to be a helpful ally for the deer.
The narrator remarked, “Rudie was out of danger, but he was still feeling scared and kind of sad. He need a secure place to live and care while he recovered because he couldn’t be a wild deer on three legs.
The Border Collie was by Rudie’s side as he recovered from his wound. For the three-legged deer, Keira took on a maternal role, assuring Rudie that he was secure and that everything would be alright.
Rudie gained the self-assurance he required to heal with the assistance of his canine mother. He still needed to learn how to assist, though. Rudie’s human mother supported the young deer with a harness as he learned to balance on three legs.
The narrator added, “Sometimes all you need is one wonderful friend to get through.” But if you’re fortunate like Rudie, you have a large group of friends who will always support you no matter where you’re racing.
