In south-west Florida, a video of a man saving a cat from Hurricane Ian has gone viral, drawing plaudits from many viewers.
Megan Cruz Scavo captioned a video of her boyfriend, 29-year-old Mike Ross, wading through knee-deep water to save a stranded cat on Wednesday afternoon: “My boyfriend saving a cat from flood waters at Bonita Beach.”
The orange and white cat in Bonita Hills, southwest Florida, was perched atop an air conditioner as it made an effort to find safety from the torrential waters that were gushing beneath it.
Ross, who had to leave his own house because it was “10 ft underwater,” saw the cat at around 2pm when he peered out the window, according to Ross, who told the Washington Post.
Although the hurricane had not yet reached shore, “the storm surge had rushed up,” according to him.
