When Sidney the cat was discovered as a stray, he was scared of people. He was saved off the list of animals slated for death by Eva, an animal rescuer from Brooklyn, New York, and Stephanie, a Big City Little Kitty fosterer, took him home to socialise him.
“When I first met him, he showed promise, so I took a chance. The most frightened kitty I’ve ever socialised, he eventually warmed up. It was worthwhile,” stated Stephanie.
Sidney initially resisted being touched and was afraid. He began to display his first sign of trust when Stephanie fed him with a baby spoon.
We’ll be progressing quickly now that I can use food as a reward, Stephanie wrote.
“I set up a trap for him to hide in since he wasn’t prepared when he arrived. If my face and body were on the other side of the trap from the trap, he seemed to calm down and allowed me to pet him.
He was a sucker for a belly rub from the start.
As time passed, I was able to coax him with food and play enough that he eventually agreed to let me pet him in public.
He immediately felt at home. He was soon apparent to be prepared for his furever home.
“He fit in perfectly, and his mother told me that it seemed as though he had always been there and belonged there. For this child, life is now just one continuous Saturday morning. I simply have no words to convey my joy and thanks.
