A hospice patient’s dying wish has been granted: to cuddle with a basket of kittens!

MISSOURI – Happiness is, indeed, a basketful of cats!

Carol Heizman’s final desire was granted! She has always adored cats!

So the staff at Groves Community Hospice in Kansas City, where Heizman is a patient, understood they had to grant her wish.

The Great Plains SPCA brought five kittens to Heizman on Monday. Four of the six-week-old babies were from the same litter. The lone black cat, which is only four weeks old, was rescued from another home.

“We brought a complete basket of kittens to snuggle up to,” the SPCA wrote on its Facebook page.

Heizman grinned as he watched the five small fur babies roll around in a large wicker basket.

“Look at all those adorable little fellas,” she exclaimed as the newborns attempted to climb out of the basket.

“Oh, they’re so sweet.”

Each kitten was covered in a baby blanket by hospice nurses. Heizman had each of them in his grip.

One even walked across her shoulders.

“We all know that pets can be just what the doctor ordered,” the SPCA said of the visit.

Through its “Happiness Is” programme, the hospice care has been working hard to grant residents’ requests.

The majority of the requests have been straightforward, according to Rhonda Sullivan, GC Hospice’s community relations coordinator.

She is currently working on a request from a resident to hear some classical piano music.

The SPCA recorded the entire kitty visit with Heizman and shared it on Facebook, where it has been seen over 63,000 times since Wednesday.
Many viewers were curious if these particular kittens could be adopted.

They will be available when they are about eight weeks old, according to the SPCA.
