A Good Samaritan found a lone kitten in their backyard on a scorching July day. The mother and other children were nowhere to be found, and the cat was probably left behind as well.
The infant, who was only a few weeks old, was in desperate need of a bottle feeder who could watch over her 24 hours a day. After hearing the request for assistance, Front Street Animal Shelter offered to take her in.
The shelter’s employee Haley Waugh fell in love with the new applicants right away. She offered to care for her and started the rigorous feeding schedule.
The kitten was initially perplexed by the strange smells and new surroundings. The only thing she knew how to do to defend herself was to hiss and spit “ferociously,” all from her palm-sized body.
The kitten showed extraordinary fortitude, which had seen her through however many days she had been by herself outside. She was affectionately given the name Lavender because of the hue of her fur.
Lavender quickly understood that her foster mother meant well and that she would never again go a day without food. Haley told Love Meow, “When she heard my voice, she perked up and wobbled her way over to me.
