Veteran of the Air Force Finds New Meaning in Adopting Senior Special Needs Cat

Prior to enlisting in the Air Force in 1970, Barbara had a lengthy military career. During World War II, her father had served in the Army. Ronnie, a friend of hers, was a soldier in Vietnam.

Barbara acknowledged that she felt restless and unsure of what she should do with her life. It appeared that joining the military was preferable to attending college.

Barbara attended tech school at the Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, after completing her basic training. She spent a significant amount of time in the military and adored her work.

She finally retired in 2009. With her dog Lucy by her side, she was isolated and all alone, and the familiar feeling of being lost for what to do or where to go returned.

The moment she met Ichabod then came. Barbara had a medical appointment close to the neighbourhood shelter. She had no plans to adopt any of the animals; she only planned to look at a few.

Since Lucy had been gone for four years, she naturally started by looking at the pets. She engaged them in conversation, which slightly improved both her and their day.

We adore you equally, Ickyboy! After all, that would make a great nap buddy! Since all cats deserve love and a lovely home full of activities and goodies, we at CaM are overjoyed that Barbara adopted a cat with Ickyboy’s needs.
