Call to Remove Deceased Cat from Cooler Fails, Leading to a Thrilling Rescue

A call for a cat in a swamp cooler was received in Pueblo, Colorado. A Pueblo Animal Law Enforcement Officer named Stephanie Dominguez answered the phone and went to the home of a woman in her nineties.

The woman said that a kitten had become lodged in the blower assembly turbine of her swamp cooler, preventing her from using it.

The woman told Stephanie that she thought the kitty had died after becoming stuck in the turbine when she got there. The events took an interesting turn after some examination.

The kitten wasn’t a kitten, but a grown-up cat, and it was alive! It was now a race against time to carefully remove the cat from the turbine.

When Stephanie realised she needed assistance, she made a call for assistance. Officers Austin Estavillo, Skylar Sardello, and Steve Medina arrived to help Stephanie.

Stephanie tried to get to him, but she was still too short. Skylar was able to capture the cat after she used a baton to push it up from below. He immediately informed the staff that he was a feisty little floof and only wanted to leave after being let free.

Even with his aggressive behaviour toward them, Stephanie was able to ascertain that the cat had some wounds that need attention. He was then taken by Stephanie and her group to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region to obtain medical attention.
