A calico cat named Bandit was adopted by Fred Everitt of Belden, Mississippi, from the neighbourhood Humane Society.
He had no idea that by rescuing her that day, the cat would later save his life.
Bandit was prowling around the home as usual on Sunday, July 24, in the early hours of the morning.
Most cat lovers are all-too familiar with this practise. Cole and Marmalade’s nocturnal exploits helped us record the enigmatic nightlife of cats.
In this instance, Bandit’s passion for nightlife proved to be a true lifesaver. The 20-pound cat started making a guttural meow from the kitchen on Monday at 2:30 am, which Everitt assumed meant the pet had seen another cat. But there were a few.
She came to the conclusion that drastic measures were necessary after Bandit’s meows failed to gain her father’s attention. The cat allegedly went into the bedroom, yanked Everitt’s comforter off the bed, and bit his arms. The cat had been warning him for a reason, and he knew what it was.
The retired surgeon is grateful for that day at the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society from years ago because he is certain the cat rescued him today.
