A cat that had hidden in a Parcelforce van’s engine was able to travel 170 miles between Liverpool and Bristol.
After the cat surprisingly survived the travel, Zetland Veterinary Group is now attempting to reunite the critter with its owner.
When he was found, the van driver was able to coax him out of the engine and bring him to the veterinarian.
The cat, who is thought to be 12 to 14 weeks old, was taken to the veterinarian on July 28.
He is thought to be a breed of ragdoll because of his cream and brown patterns. He is too young to have a microchip, which could make meeting his owner more challenging.
‘Once I found a vet who was willing to care after him, I got one of my drivers to take him down to get him checked out,’ Parcelforce employee Miacarlla Harrison said.
He was initially really frightened because he was definitely unsure of his location and had likely just dozed off inside. Then, all of a sudden, hands and faces that he doesn’t recognise began attempting to grab hold of him.
He may be a feral cat, according to Vikki, but fortunately he tested negative for the feline virus.
The veterinarians will have to place him up for adoption if no one steps forward to claim ownership.
We need to give it a little more time to possibly get in touch with the owner, probably for about seven days, and after that we’ll attempt to find him a new home, she continued.
