A known city hunter has been unmasked as a crucial member in Scotland’s heinous dog fighting underground, even sending out disturbing match reports on the gory fights.
Sadistic Anthony Holloway, 30, trained his own pack of combat dogs in steel cages near his home in Dumbarton. A Daily Record investigation unearthed Holloway’s heinous hobby, which is detailed in one “match report” made after he pitted his own American pit bull against a competitor from a separate stable.
Holloway bred pit bulls and other dogs at his “Roc Red” stable to be murderers, exposing them to badgers and foxes to arouse their ferocity.
“The dog fighting industry is famously tight-knit and highly nervous about getting caught,” the insider continued, “so this stolen photos and match report will be a significant concern to anyone participating in dog fighting in Scotland and the UK.”
Our analysis suggests that Holloway used a wide range of fighting dog training techniques. He’s used canine treadmills to build stamina and “break sticks” to pry open canines’ lips if they’re stuck in a competitor’s neck.
Holloway was sentenced to a four-year ban on keeping animals in June after being found guilty of using dogs to hunt foxes and badgers in woodland near his home. Despite prosecutors seeking a life sentence, Holloway received only a 270-hour community payback order in Dumbarton Sheriff Court on top of the ownership restriction.
He is suspected of being responsible for the deaths and significant disfigurement of numerous dogs, either by forcing them to fight badgers or other fighting dogs. Images obtained from his phone showed animals being ripped apart. The heinous yob has also used lighting and spades to dig out badger setts and trap the scared animals before setting dogs on them.
