a family got a 20-year-old cat from a shelter, precious kitty story of love

This senior cat was 20 years old when he was adopted by a caring household. They had no idea how much love he still had in him.

A family from Utah came to Best Friends Animal Society looking adopt a young kitten, but their hearts were taken by a lovely senior cat.

Dexter was already 20 years old, and they realised he didn’t have much time left. They took a chance on the sweet old toothless cat and provided him a place to retire. Dexter cuddled up to his human, JJ, on the day he moved into his new home, and the two instantly bonded.

Every day, Dexter expressed his gratitude to his family by showering them with cuddles and purrs.

He’d burrow into the crooks of their arms and rub his head on them for hours, purring hysterically.

He not only got along with his human family, but he was also the wolf pack’s leader.

His canine friends looked up to him and were fiercely protective of him.

Dexter poured unconditional affection on everyone in his path.

He was a talker who requested food at 4:30 a.m. every day. His meow was grumpy, and he wouldn’t let you go until he had what he wanted.

He was, of course, the ruler of the litter.

Dexter was the happiest kitty imaginable.

He spent two more warm and joyful years with his family before crossing the rainbow bridge.

“We will never forget the love and happiness he brought to our family in his little time with us. Dexter, rest in peace.”

“It is never too late to save someone’s life. In shelters across the country, there are many wonderful animals looking for their forever home.”

Remember that older cats require homes as well, and they are far more difficult to find. Keep it in mind the next time you’re looking for a pet.

You are not saving the world, but you are changing the world for that cat.
