A foster parent in Arlington, Virginia named Penny Richards was approached regarding a pair of 4-week-old kittens discovered on the side of the road. The other clung to her brother the entire time, while the one of them had a congenital abnormality and was in severe condition.
According to Penny, who spoke to Love Meow, “She was close to her brother’s side from the minute they were found, as if she knew he was suffering and needed comfort.”
Despite their best attempts, the brother was unable to survive, and that evening the remaining kitten became a singleton. After she lost her sibling, I gave her the Hawaiian name Koa, which means “fighter” or “brave one.”
Koa stayed close to her foster home for a few weeks, constantly requesting pets and attention.
“She was cheerful and bubbly, and a medical checkup revealed she was in good health. She developed a strong attachment to us and other people “Shared by Penny and Love Meow.
