Last year, a litter of kittens was discovered in a barn in western Québec, Canada. Joanie, the owner of the barn, decided to save them. Since no one else could assist, she contacted Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a cat rescue located roughly a seven-hour journey away.
Joanie was able to rescue two adult cats and three kittens using a humane trap. The adult cats were spayed and neutered before being accepted by the owner of the barn, and the kittens were then taken to the rescue to be put up for adoption.
A very cautious and hungry tabby eventually ended herself in the trap as she searched for the final kitten of the litter.
At the moment, Jeanne the tabby was about six months old. She spent the entire time hiding under a cardboard box because she was so afraid. Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal told Love Meow that the client “never had any human contact and felt lost and terrified.”
The kitten was afraid of humans and stayed away from them, so Joanie tried to pet her and gain her trust by using a spatula.
