For a shot at a better life, a tiny grey kitten travelled to Community Cat Club, a cat rescue organisation with headquarters in southern New Jersey.
According to Sara Sharp, president and founder of Community Cat Club, “He came to us after being found on a military base all alone.”
They discovered his chest abnormality as soon as they arrived at the rescue. Despite this, Leroy the kitten was a delight right away, gorging himself on food and soaking up all the attention from his carer.
“Leroy has some clear flaws. We’re going to use every effort to assist him.”
The kitten was identified as having pectus excavatum, a congenital malformation of the chest wall. “He does have pectus excavatum, as I had expected. At our veterinarian, X-rays verified this.”
Leroy’s condition was severe, thus surgery would be required to fix it.
