Cricket, a little kitten, was found outside earlier this year and brought to the Baltimore Humane Society at the age of just one day. Foster volunteer Melissa Lucas said, “One of the excellent vets at the shelter tube-fed her for over two weeks.”
Cricket was the size of a one- to two-day-old kitten when she was three and a half weeks old. She was strong-willed and ate to her heart’s content at every feeding notwithstanding how small she was.
Cricket was a marvel the size of a palm with a very slight head tremble. When the two first met, the little tabby was drawn to Melissa and only wanted to be petted.
With constant attention and tonnes of tender loving care, Cricket began to put on weight. After ten days in foster care, she finally grew to the size of a kitten that was one week old.
“She was gaining weight at the ideal rate. She was aggressively searching for us, and her eyes were wide open,” Melissa continued. She still exhibited a slight head tremor and a high-stepping stride, but she was highly mobile and had good balance.
