During a storm, a rescue cat spots a chipmunk outside and knows just what to do

Last winter, Indi appeared at the door of her current household, meowing for assistance. She was so frail that at first they assumed she was a kitten, but after having a vet examine her, they discovered she was actually 2 years old.

They chose to adopt her right away, but she struggled to adapt to life indoors with siblings and all the activity. She was instead given a house by her parents in their barn, replete with a TV, a cat tree, a tonne of toys, and a warm fireplace.

Indi has a tiny cat door that she can use to play outside whenever she likes, but she typically stays inside when the weather is poor.

Indi’s family thought she had been inside all day during a recent winter storm, so they went to lock the cat door before going to bed so she couldn’t escape at night. Since they had not observed anything unusual, they bid Indi good night and went to bed.

The following morning, when they went to open the cat door and greet Indi, they saw a chipmunk dozing in front of the fireplace.

It seems that Indi must have gone out in the storm the day before after all, and when she saw the cold little chipmunk in need of help, she happily brought him inside the same way her family welcomed her in last winter. They hadn’t noticed him when they said goodnight to Indi, and the pair spent the night together cozy by the fire.
