The Adventure of Floki Hiking in New Hampshire has made Cat and hiker Melissa (Mel) Elam famous throughout the world. The two accomplished their yearly goal of scaling forty-eight mountains in the Granite State that are higher than 4,000 feet by early July. They have spent an incredible year together and are still climbing mountains.
Four-parent Elam lost her former hiking partner, a chocolate lab named Leia. Later, she made the decision to have a cat after witnessing another hiker with one.
Elam made the decision to adopt a kitten as a result, and unintentionally met the ideal friend.
The Conway Area Humane Society gave Floki to Elam, 36, for adoption. She had intended to acquire a young black male kitten when she arrived. She was drawn to a domestic shorthair with grey stripes, though.
