The well-intentioned construction workers attempted to feed the wailing bobcat kitten, but she refused to take the cat food they supplied. Yemaya was in need of her mother’s milk at the time, but she was nowhere to be seen.
Luckily for Yemaya, the employees comforted her and wished to help her. They played with her in their office throughout the working day. She declined every offer they made, though. She squealed in protest and yearned to suckle. She was too young for solid food at this age.
Yemaya was becoming more dehydrated as the day went on. The workers soon realised they required professional assistance. So they got in touch with Scottsdale’s Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center. Sadly, the bobcat had grown attached to humans by this point, and that would change.
The kitten was being cuddled by a guy when the volunteer from Southwest Wildlife showed up, but she was crying for her mother.
Yemaya received bobcat-specific infant formula while under the center’s care. She quickly started thriving and growing, forming a close bond with the rehabilitators. She developed strong relationships with her carers because she was exposed to people at such a young age.
Yemaya was used to being around humans and dogs, thus her behaviour was nothing like that of a wild bobcat.
