Kim, an animal rescuer for Hamilton Animal Services, noticed a pregnant cat scrounging around for food in the neighbourhood two months ago.
After rescuing the cat, she contacted the co-founders of Salty Animal Rescue, Karly and Katelyn Saltarski, to ask for help.
“Mom wasn’t initially really excited about people, but she did allow me to bring in a few pets. She was around a 5 1/2 on the spice scale, but we were confident we could reduce her to a solid one with a little more effort “Karly gave Love Meow some.
The expecting cat mother was finally able to unwind and get some rest in a peaceful, secure environment after likely spending the most of her life on the streets.
The cat, Banksy, gradually emerged from her shell and began to relish being petted. She was reserved but content with her cosy new apartment and the abundance of food available to her. We are overjoyed that this will be her final litter and that neither she nor her offspring will ever contribute to the local overpopulation.
A few days later, Mama Banksy went into labour and gave birth to seven healthy tuxedo kittens.
