An orange cat named Mattie was brought to the York County SPCA and desperately needed care. He needed to be transported in a dog kennel since he was so badly matted.
The tabby was discovered outside in Hanover, Pennsylvania by a local resident as a stray. “The worst-matted animal I’ve ever seen in my career was Mattie. It was challenging to see where his actual body was because of the massive and weighty matting “Dr. Weekes, the shelter’s medical director for the York County SPCA.
Mattie was naturally terrified and frightened and could not move. The medical staff started treating him right away.
His matted hair weighed around 2 1/2 pounds, which they were able to safely remove. After the procedure, staff continued to take care of Mattie and gave him medical care and lots of tender loving care to guarantee a speedy recovery for the deserving youngster.
According to York County SPCA, “They offered attention when he showed interest, gave him room when he needed it, provided socialisation and enrichment.”
