A kitten with a perpetually unhappy visage is entertaining the internet, earning the moniker “Grumpy Cat 2.0.”
Diana (u/MickPawsome) posted a photo of her kitten Mick to the r/Aww forum on October 10. Despite being described as a “little bundle of love,” Mick’s comically “mad” visage captured both Redditors’ attention and emotions.
The charming kitty photo has received 38,000 upvotes and references to grumpy stars and famous misers since it was posted.
The original “Grumpy Cat,” real name Tardar Sauce, became an internet celebrity. The cat’s distinctive expression, caused by feline dwarfism and a significant underbite, created innumerable memes and purportedly made his owner, Tabantha Bundeson, wealthy.
Tardar Sauce’s career as an influencer and professional online meme began with a photo posted to Reddit by Bundeson’s brother. Bundeson eventually quit her day job at Red Lobster to handle her pet’s meteoric popularity.
The Grumpy Cat empire was claimed to be worth $99.5 million in 2014, though Bundeson rejected this. Tardar Sauce made the most of his money from books, merchandise, advertising partnerships, and appearances. Tardar Sauce was also the first feline to star in a film, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.
