Nepal Travel Itinerary : Visiting Without Passport / Visa:
Travelling foreign destination without the use of passport is something I did twice in 2019 first it was in Bhutan and second time it was in Nepal in the month of December. So i’ll share with about Nepal Travel Itinerary. The experience was enriching in itself and made me think that I should have stayed in Nepal for more time. I stayed there only for 24 hours and those were some of the best 24 hours I cherish. We went on our own with our Aadhaar cards in our hands and some food for the road. It was a fast road trip cum wedding trip.
Nepal Travel Itinerary
I had a friend of mine getting married in Nepal. The best thing this time was that we only carried money for petrol and shopping, as the accommodation in Mahendhara nagar, Nepal was free of cost other than that the hotel we were staying was Hotel Siddhartha leelah, Mahendhara Nagar, Nepal and it would have cost us around INR 1000-/ to INR 1200-/. We started from New Delhi and were going through the shortest route possible which made sure we reached Nepal in mere 7-8 (approx.) hours with only two halts in between. We were in a Hyundai Creta and the tank was full when we started from New Delhi. Our first halt was in Uttar Pradesh in Shiva tourist Dabha, where we had our morning tea and the food we took with ourselves.
It was a light breakfast we made some jumbo bread sandwiches and salad. After having our breakfast and tea we headed towards our second halt which was in Rudrapur for re-fueling and having some good lunch. The time was around four in the evening. There was a good restaurant in Rudrapur by the name of Radhe Khana were we had roti and dal makhni. In the second place we paid for the food and the bill for five was INR 450-/ for the food and INR 100-/ for the cold drinks which is very feasible since we all were full after having our evening meal and cold drinks. We finished our lunch and fueling around 4:50pm and started for Banbasa Dam Check Point.
After driving for another one hour at 6pm we reached near Banbasa Dam Check Point which is one of the multi-purpose dams constructed for the people of both India and Nepal to travel and make full use of its hydro power. We made sure our allegiance to attend our friend’s wedding is kept, so we reached Banbasa Dam Check Point by six and got ourselves the Dam crossing pass which is mandatory for cars and buses only. People going on bikes can cross Banbasa Dam Check Point anytime of the day. The Dam Check Point and its surrounding were very beautiful we were at awe of it. After few minutes the gates were open from the Nepal side first to welcome not just the baratis from India, but many buses and trucks as well.
The Dam Check Point was a mammoth and it was strong enough to face the force of all the twenty vehicles going altogether on the special road constructed on it, with additional four to five Nepal tourism buses. After crossing the border we waited for a while as we had to go for immigration check and pay for Panshari a type of tax where the travellers/ tourists pay for the area they will be going to stay and tour around.
We paid 1500 INR for one Car as Panshari and after that headed for our immigration check. After checking thoroughly our Aadhaar cards and enquiring the purpose of our travel we were good to go and now we had to report straight to our Hotel Siddhartha leelah in Mahendhara Nagar. It was a thirty minute drive from Banbasa Dam Check Point to Mahendhara Nagar. After reaching there we had our dinner in the hotel itself as the markets get closed by 7-8 pm only the nearby Bars were open and the hotel too had an in-house bar facility with service to room as well.
Our one day tour cum wedding began at 8am in the morning with Nepal’s finest tea in one of its finest hotels. After getting ready for the wedding we went for our breakfast and it was a fine Nepali breakfast with two options either we could go with Aalo Puri and lemon tea which was really tasty and not at all oily or unhealthy or undercooked we had some really fine chicken an dpaner dim sums (momos) as an add on to it or milk and Kellogg’s cereal with fresh cut strawberries. We went with the Aalo Puri and dim sums combination.
As we headed out from our hotel in our car to the destination of the wedding in Mahendhara Nagar we saw really beautiful houses or bungalows and shopping centres that were locally made and run by local peoples. The people there were very friendly and eager to help as we didn’t change our currency from INR to Nepali Rupees we did not faced any issue with that since the people were very very helpful towards the Indian diaspora. The flowers around the houses were like icing on the cake. People there did not lose their traditional touch while constructing their house in modern times.
In fact the shopping centres constructed were large enough to facilitate a lot of shops and customers as well. The wedding was in a church situated in the rural part of the Mahendhara Nagar. After reaching there and giving our best wishes to the bride and groom we head out for our own expeditions in our car where we saw many river bed which was gushing with the ferocious power of the river water and
we did made a de tour and went a little bit far from where our Panshari was deducted for, but it was only that we heard there we will get lots of wai-wai the Nepali version of Maggie and 10 times delicious. We had our wai-wai noodles at around 4.30 and after that we went to back to our hotel as we had to reach Banbasa by six. So we packed our bags and headed out for Banbasa Dam Check Point this time as we were going back in 24 hours we were exposed to a very strict scrutinized checking and frisking where our bags were literally opened and checked again for Gold smuggling. Our car trunk was checked but Any way we reached Banbasa Dam Check Point by 5:50pm and got the last Dam crossing Pass. If we would have been late by 10 minutes it would have cost us a lot more money.
As we were crossing the dam and coming back to India, I could only think about what all we could have done if we had stayed and explored more of the beauty of inner Nepal. So Do You have any query regarding to Nepal Travel Itinerary ask in comment box.
